Moab and stuff

For spring break we went to Moab with Whit's family.  A couple of days before we went, Winston got a really bad fever.  You can always tell when he is sick,

because he falls asleep when he's not in his bed.

Only happens when he is sick, poor guy!

Luckily it only lasted a day and then these two were ready for our adventure :)

The weather was gorgeous and we had such a fun time!  This is all Whit's family, getting ready to go 4 wheeling and biking on gemini bridges.  We took the kids in the Tahoe and drove along the trail.

We all stopped for lunch together and hiked around a bit.

Winston loved chillin in the car :)

And this is where we stayed.

One day we went to Arches and all went hiking together.

The kiddos loved being with all of their cousins,

And they loved climbing around and being outside!

They took their naps in backpacks

I'm so glad they fell asleep

 and stayed asleep!

When we hiked delicate arch it was in the middle of a huge windstorm!  It was actually a little scary in places because the wind was so strong and sand was flying in your face so you couldn't see at all.  Not the best hiking conditions.

But we made it and stayed long enough to snap a quick family photo.  We didn't dare take the kids out of the backpacks because the wind would have knocked them over!  But we covered them up really well so they didn't get sand in their eyes and we all made it back to the car safe and sound.

This was Edie's bed while we were down there.  Despite appearances, she kind of liked it and slept really well, every night.  We were so grateful!  It made for a really fun trip :)

Then the next weekend was conference and we enjoyed our traditional breakfast and watching it at home together.  I love conference!

This is the next Sunday before we went to church.  The kids looked so cute so I wanted to get a picture of them together.

So Whit tried to get them together for me

 they were a little resistant

 And tried to run away

And this is the best we got.  At least we tried :)

They are much happier when I just let them watch tv :)

Edie now has 5 teeth, her 2 bottom ones that have been there for awhile, then she got 2 top teeth--but not her front teeth, the ones next door.  Then this week another tooth starting poking through on the bottom.  It makes her a little cranky.

But she does a good job of hiding it, right?  :)

March Madness!

This is a little late, but we took Edie in for her 1 year checkup on President's Day.  I had this picture on my phone and forgot about it.

This was later that same day.  We went up to Whit's parent's cabin for the day and Winston fell asleep the second we got in the car to come home.  This is before we even pulled out of the gate.  It sure was a fun day enjoying the snow!

And then we started packing.  We have really enjoyed living in Whit's parent's basement, but we are so excited our house is finally finished!

I didn't take any pictures of the actual move itself, and I think my camera is still in the basement somewhere.  I am sure eventually I will find it, but in the meantime I've just taken a few pictures with my phone.  Like this one :)  Winston had a little adjustment period where he wouldn't take naps.  I would just leave him in his room and he would take out every article of clothing from his dresser, pull off every book from the bookshelf, pull out every wipe from the container, pull out all of his clean diapers... His room always looks like a war zone after nap time.  But as you can see, he is tired!  One day I took the kids to target in the afternoon and of course Winston fell asleep in the car.  Luckily he stayed asleep when I laid him down in the cart.  It was a little tricky getting stuff in the cart with him taking up most of the room, but luckily we didn't need to get a lot!

And little miss monkey would not sit still!  At one point she was kneeling and holding onto the mop with one hand and she looked like George Washington crossing the Delaware, you know what painting I am talking about?  Would have been funnier if I didn't have to keep trying to get her from climbing out of the cart :)

So on the mornings I have been taking the kids for walks, and of course Winston fell asleep in the stroller.  I just laughed at his fingers!  I sent the picture to Whit but he didn't notice--Winston is flipping the bird.  He didn't want to go on a walk this day and kicked and screamed when I put him in the stroller (because he was so tired) so it made me laugh that this is how he fell asleep!

Last weekend my parents and sweet sister came up and helped watch the kids so we could get some things done around the house!  My dad helped me make these covered footstools.  I was really impressed with my dad's skills :)  We've loved having somewhere to put up our feet :)

With the move we got 1:00 church.  Of course that is right during Winston's naptime, but sometimes we are lucky enough to have him fall asleep in church!  He still hasn't made it through nursery yet though, he cries the whole time. So we either stay with him there or take him out in the halls, depending on how loud he is crying.  We are really hoping he will get used to it here and go on his own soon!

He sure is a funny kid.  I pulled out my phone to take a picture and he ran up to me with this "smile."  :)

I was trying to get a picture of Edie's pig tails.  I've been trying really hard to get her hair cute, but it's a battle

that usually ends up like this!

But for the most part the kiddos are doing well in their new digs.  We are so happy to be here and have really enjoyed the neighborhood.  Yay for new beginnings.

And here is Whit with his his high school buddies.  We all got together to celebrate Shane's birthday and it was fun reconnecting with everyone.  We are so happy to be close to friends and to have the opportunity to make some new ones!

Edie is 1 year old!!!

Poor Edie, she kind of got the shaft for her first birthday.  We have been a little preoccupied with preparations for our move, and I didn't want to plan a big party for her.  Then I got sick and I really didn't feel like doing much of anything.  Luckily my awesome sister Kira made a cake for her, otherwise it would have been a sad birthday indeed!

Edie was fascinated with the cake and so excited to see what it was all about.

You did a good job, Kira--she loved it!

I just think it's funny that Winston ate his piece like a corn on the cob :)

I'd say the cake was a huge and messy success!

After we gave her a bath, we got out her present.  We gave her a little toy kitchen and she was less than impressed, just look at her face!  Kidding, she had fun playing with it for a few minutes.

She has started "folding her arms" for the prayer.  It's so adorable when we tell her to fold her arms and she does this!

Her Grandma Julie came over that morning to give her a card--Edie loves it!

She has been such a fun addition to our family and we love seeing her interact with Winston.  Sometimes he isn't a big fan, but I can tell they are going to be great friends!

And this little girl is walking all over the place these days and is so proud of herself.  She is so much fun to watch and we just love our little Ediekins!  Happy Birthday Sweetie :)

Oh, and she had her 1 year doctor's visit.  She weighs 20 lbs 2 oz (50%) and is 29.5" tall (60%).  One healthy girl!

Our Weekend Away

Whit is such a sweetheart and planned a weekend getaway for my birthday!  Friday night his sister Katie came over and watched our kiddos and put them to bed.  Then his other sister Linsey came over and spent the night with them and watched them all day Saturday.  They were all so sweet to help out and we had such a great time having a break from it all.  We love our kids, but I really needed a full night's sleep!!!

So my aunt let us use her friends and family rate, and we stayed at the Marriott downtown.  We enjoyed being on the 11th floor and getting a really good view of downtown and the ice skating rink at the Gallivan Plaza.  Oh, and before we checked in to the hotel we went to the Temple and then out to dinner :)

We really enjoyed sleeping in!  I didn't get out of bed until 9:30 :)  We got all dressed to go cross country skiing.  So we checked out of the hotel, went to get breakfast, and by the time we were on the road it was noon and raining and we were both starting to get sick so we decided to skip on the skiing.  We ended up going to RC Wiley and getting our new couch!  We are so excited for that--we've been looking at it for months now.  After that we decided to hit a movie--Jack Ryan, Shadow Recruit.  Pretty intense!

Poor Whit was so hot in his skiing clothes.  He pulled up his pants for the movie :)  Doesn't he look thrilled to be there?  :)  After the movie we finally went home so we could feed the kids dinner and put them to bed!  :)  It was such a fun weekend and we loved being able to hang out and do whatever we felt like doing.  What freedom.  But we did miss the kids and it was fun to come home and see their cute smiling faces :)

A Long Week

These little yahoos are a handful!  So when Whit went to the cabin with the Young Men in our ward for the weekend, I took the kids down to my mum and dad's.  We thought it would be fun to get them out of the house.  First we went to the art exhibit at BYU and they didn't like that at all.  We walked them around campus and met my dad and brother for lunch, but they were still fussy when we got home.  After a sleepless night for all of us, Edie started getting a fever and we were all going stir crazy in the house.  So we took them to the mall :)

They had fun playing but poor little Edie just wasn't herself.

So we went back to mum and dad's and I fell asleep on the couch and Winston fell down the stairs--here is a picture of his shiner :)  Poor kid!  So I brought them home and they both slept through the night in their own beds.  It was so nice!
And they finally painted our house the right colors!  We think it looks really nice and are soooo excited to be moving there in two weeks!

And Winston doesn't seem to be bothered by his black eye at all :)  He can be soo fussy at times but we sure do love that kid!
