Edie is 1 year old!!!

Poor Edie, she kind of got the shaft for her first birthday.  We have been a little preoccupied with preparations for our move, and I didn't want to plan a big party for her.  Then I got sick and I really didn't feel like doing much of anything.  Luckily my awesome sister Kira made a cake for her, otherwise it would have been a sad birthday indeed!

Edie was fascinated with the cake and so excited to see what it was all about.

You did a good job, Kira--she loved it!

I just think it's funny that Winston ate his piece like a corn on the cob :)

I'd say the cake was a huge and messy success!

After we gave her a bath, we got out her present.  We gave her a little toy kitchen and she was less than impressed, just look at her face!  Kidding, she had fun playing with it for a few minutes.

She has started "folding her arms" for the prayer.  It's so adorable when we tell her to fold her arms and she does this!

Her Grandma Julie came over that morning to give her a card--Edie loves it!

She has been such a fun addition to our family and we love seeing her interact with Winston.  Sometimes he isn't a big fan, but I can tell they are going to be great friends!

And this little girl is walking all over the place these days and is so proud of herself.  She is so much fun to watch and we just love our little Ediekins!  Happy Birthday Sweetie :)

Oh, and she had her 1 year doctor's visit.  She weighs 20 lbs 2 oz (50%) and is 29.5" tall (60%).  One healthy girl!

Our Weekend Away

Whit is such a sweetheart and planned a weekend getaway for my birthday!  Friday night his sister Katie came over and watched our kiddos and put them to bed.  Then his other sister Linsey came over and spent the night with them and watched them all day Saturday.  They were all so sweet to help out and we had such a great time having a break from it all.  We love our kids, but I really needed a full night's sleep!!!

So my aunt let us use her friends and family rate, and we stayed at the Marriott downtown.  We enjoyed being on the 11th floor and getting a really good view of downtown and the ice skating rink at the Gallivan Plaza.  Oh, and before we checked in to the hotel we went to the Temple and then out to dinner :)

We really enjoyed sleeping in!  I didn't get out of bed until 9:30 :)  We got all dressed to go cross country skiing.  So we checked out of the hotel, went to get breakfast, and by the time we were on the road it was noon and raining and we were both starting to get sick so we decided to skip on the skiing.  We ended up going to RC Wiley and getting our new couch!  We are so excited for that--we've been looking at it for months now.  After that we decided to hit a movie--Jack Ryan, Shadow Recruit.  Pretty intense!

Poor Whit was so hot in his skiing clothes.  He pulled up his pants for the movie :)  Doesn't he look thrilled to be there?  :)  After the movie we finally went home so we could feed the kids dinner and put them to bed!  :)  It was such a fun weekend and we loved being able to hang out and do whatever we felt like doing.  What freedom.  But we did miss the kids and it was fun to come home and see their cute smiling faces :)

A Long Week

These little yahoos are a handful!  So when Whit went to the cabin with the Young Men in our ward for the weekend, I took the kids down to my mum and dad's.  We thought it would be fun to get them out of the house.  First we went to the art exhibit at BYU and they didn't like that at all.  We walked them around campus and met my dad and brother for lunch, but they were still fussy when we got home.  After a sleepless night for all of us, Edie started getting a fever and we were all going stir crazy in the house.  So we took them to the mall :)

They had fun playing but poor little Edie just wasn't herself.

So we went back to mum and dad's and I fell asleep on the couch and Winston fell down the stairs--here is a picture of his shiner :)  Poor kid!  So I brought them home and they both slept through the night in their own beds.  It was so nice!
And they finally painted our house the right colors!  We think it looks really nice and are soooo excited to be moving there in two weeks!

And Winston doesn't seem to be bothered by his black eye at all :)  He can be soo fussy at times but we sure do love that kid!

Fun in a box

We've discovered the fun that a box can be!  The kids love playing in this, so much that Winston has cracked the plastic on it. :(  But I love this shot of Edie's hair.  Looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket!

They loved playing with dad and had a grand time.

The house is getting ready for paint!  The walls are all mudded and textured.  We went back later in the week and they've put up baseboard and done the stairs and put shelves in all the closets.  Yippee!

And after we looked at the house we went out to dinner at Chick-fil-a.  Friday night family date night :)

January Happenings

We go to the house several times a week now :)  This is what it looked like at the beginning of the week, getting all ready to be painted inside.

and here are the two yahoos, eating a snack together.

I don't know if you can tell, but Edie knocked over her activity table.  She is getting really good at standing by herself, and she took her first steps this week!!!

however, she didn't like going out in the snow to get a picture taken.  I was getting stir crazy so I took the kids in the back yard for a few minutes, just to get out of the house.

After Winston learned he could walk on the snow (he wouldn't at first), he loved running around the yard.  I just held Edie with my lame arm and tried to take pictures with the other hand.  It was quite the spectacle!

Winston has two therapists that come over to work with him.  The speech therapist comes once a month and tries to get Winston to learn new sounds.  The other one (I'm not sure what she's called but she basically just plays with him for an hour twice a month) tries to get him to stay engaged in one activity for longer than just a minute.  He loved watching the bubbles!  He just sat there fascinated for a few minutes.  It was fun to see his reactions.  Anyways, it's nice to have a little input from the therapists on things I can do to help Winston--now if only I had the energy to follow through!

My parents watched the kiddos on Saturday so Whit and I could go to the temple.  We went to the Provo temple and even though we had a long wait to even sit in the chapel before waiting for our session, we had a really nice time.

and here's the house at the end of the week.  They have started putting the hardiboard on, but they've put the wrong pattern on in some places.  So now they have to take it off and do it again :(  But hopefully it will look nice in the end!

Another week

Winston has taken to sleeping with his hands behind his head.  We think it's super cute!

And Edie has started clapping her hands on her face like this.  It's hilarious to watch!

And when we go on walks, they both prop one of their legs up on the stroller.  It's so weird that they both do it!  They definitely keep us entertained.

And here I am with my girlfriends when we went out to dinner last week.  We are bidding Amanda a fond farewell, she is moving to Chicago!  We will sure miss her but are excited for her and her family.  And hopefully we'll all be able to go out there and visit :)  I love Chicago and would love to go back!

And here are some pictures from our lobster dinner that I forgot to post.  Whit's sister's neighbor gave her some fresh lobsters!  She called Whit to see if he would like to cook them--of course!  I had to hold one, just so I could say I've held a live lobster.  It wiggled a lot and was kind of scary.

Whit felt kind of bad for killing live creatures.  He kept saying, "I am sorry I am killing you."

The end result was super delicious though!  Whit is such an amazing cook and I loved partaking of this meal.  Yum!

Here are the kids playing at their new table!

And Winston practicing his smile :)

And our house got dry wall this week!  Yay!  This is the living room,

the stairs going up to Winston's room,

and our kitchen!  I can't wait to see what they do this next week :)

Happy New Year!

Our house now has windows and doors!  Yay!

For New Year's we went up to the cabin.  We went up Monday morning and stayed until Wednesday morning.  We had so much fun playing with family, being outside, and enjoying the snow.  We took the kids sledding one day.

As you can see, they were unimpressed.  Oh well.

We didn't have much luck on the snowmobile either, Winston thought it was so thrilling he fell asleep :)

But we did have fun playing games, despite the awful look on my face :)  It was a great time and we enjoyed all of it except the night that Winston kept us up until 4 in the morning and Edie woke up at 6.  That wasn't fun.  But the rest of the trip was :)
