For our 3rd anniversary, we went to Vegas! Not a super exciting or thrilling destination for us, we've both been there before, but it's close and cheap and we wanted to see how Edie would do on a trip.
She cried a little bit on the plane ride there, but Whit was good at bouncing her in the seat and eventually she fell asleep. Yay! Luckily the plane wasn't full so there weren't too many people sitting by us. It was really nice. I love short flights!
We got there Monday morning and after we checked into our hotel and got settled, we went out for lunch. The Hard Rock Cafe was across the street from us (we stayed at the Monte Carlo) so we went there. It's really silly, but in high school when I made my list of 101 things to do before I die, one of them was eat at 5 different Hard Rock Cafes. They were cool when I was in high school, I promise! So I ate at the one in Acapulco in high school, La Jolla California on a road trip with friends in college, the Salt Lake one with a friend when it was here (I think it's gone now), Chicago with Whit when we went for our first anniversary, and now Las Vegas completes it. Yay for a check mark on my list!
We took the bumbo for Edie to sit in while we ate. She did pretty good in it :) and she got lots of oohhs and aahhs from the waiters as they would pass by.
We went up and down a lot of elevators and escalators with the stroller! They have a lot of elevated walkways now and to cross most of the streets you have to go up. I was really surprised at the amount of people that took the elevator, even though it didn't look like they needed to. So sometimes we got tired of waiting and just took the escalator. Edie wasn't a big fan of that, but Whit did really good at maneuvering the stroller!
A coke a day keeps the doctor away, right? We kept looking for water fountains but after asking where they were, we learned that they aren't deemed sanitary anymore. Whatever! So lots of time coke was cheaper than water. There is something wrong with that!
One of the main reasons we went to Vegas was for the crab legs buffet. We went to one of the new casinos, the Aria, and had their buffet. It definitely didn't disappoint!
Edie didn't last in the bumbo for long, so we took turns holding her, eating, going to get more food, walking around with her, and repeating the cycle.
Tuesday morning we went for a swim! We put Edie in a floaty car and went around the lazy river, over and over. She loved it for about 15 minutes and then she was done. We tried another pool but the water was pretty cold. So that was our short but fun pool day :)
So we got dressed and spent the rest of the day walking the strip. It was really fun to see all of the looks that Edie got, she got a lot of comments. I was surprised that a couple of older gentlemen referred to her as a boy! I mean really, do boys wear pink and ribbons on their heads? Oh well!
It was really cool to check out the city center. On Wednesday, our last day there, we discovered that our hotel was connected to them! All that time we could have walked indoors instead of out in the heat! Oh well.
We took a family picture at the Bellagio before leaving. We missed Winston but were glad we didn't have to keep track of him the whole time. It's amazing how easy it is to manage just one kid when you are used to having 2. It was a nice change!
But we were all really happy to be headed home. Edie slept like this for the whole plane ride, it was awesome! It was a great way to end a fun little trip. We decided that we'll be just fine if we wait another 10 years to go back to Vegas though, or make sure that we get a rental car next time so we're not confined to the strip. We got to see and do everything we wanted to though, so it was a great trip and a fun way to celebrate being married for 3 years. Yippee!
